A RAISIN IN THE SUN
HARLEM: (A dream deferred) What happens to a dream deffered? Does it dry up like a raisin in the sun? Or fester like a sore-and then run? Does it stink like rotten meat? Or crust and sugar over-like syrupy sweet? Maybe it just sags like a heavy load. Or does it explode? Langston Hughes

Bobo
I chose Anthony Anderson to play the role of Bobo in the story. Anthony played a role in the movie "Kangaroo Jack" and in this movie he was gullable and vulnerable which reminded me of Bobo. Bobo stood in the doorway crying about the loss of their money to Harris. He seemed to trusting and very gullible, just like the characters that Anthony Anderson has played.
Karl Lindner
I chose Matt Damon to play the role of Mr. Karl Lindner. Matt Damon has played various types of roles. In some he has been the "shy guy" who wants to be nice to everyone yet has some sort of reserve or fear of people around him. His personal character from what I have seen of him reminds me of how Mr. Lindner was with the Younger family. His boyish character in "Ocean's Twelve" is what made me choose him for this role. He was quiet yet wanted to be respected by the others just like Mr. Lindner.
George Murchison
Sean Combs....the perfect person to play the role of George in the story. He is arrogant and has very high self esteem. He dresses to a "T" in expensive and upto date fashion so as to project his wealth through his clothing, just like George. He is wealthy and can do anything he so chooses. He reminds me of George because George felt that he was better than everyone in the Younger household. He is not someone who I would consider attractive and has had beautiful women in his life which makes it seem to me that he just likes to have Trophy women in his life, just as George did with Beneatha.
Joseph Asagai
Lena "Mama" Younger
I chose the lovely, gifted, and ever so talented, Felicia Rashad to play the role of Lena Younger, also known as "Mama". Felicia is a woman of beauty and grace just as "Mama" was. She has played many roles throughout her life. From what I can remember, Felicia has always been a very well respected woman just as Mama was. A perfect example would be "The Cosby Show". She played the mother who although married seemed to be in charge of the entire household just as "Mama" was.
Beneatha Younger
I chose Nia Long to play the role of Beneatha Younger in the story. In the movie "Soul Food" Nia played the role of a sassy yet young at heart woman who had recently married a man who was not really accepted at first by her family. She reminds me of Beneatha because in the movie she was mature but immature at the same time. She was also easily influenced by others in the movie just as Beneatha was in the story.
Travis Younger
Jaden Smith! What a great young actor! He is amazingly great at what he does. His charms and looks can win over anyone just as Travis was able to win over Mama's heart. I chose him to play the role of young Travis. He is young, vibrant, and playful. He reminds me of Travis in the way that Travis was quiet yet he was a smart boy. He wanted to follow in his father's footsteps in becoming a driver, just as Jaden has followed in his father's footsteps by becoming an actor.
Walter Lee Younger "Brother"
I chose Terrance Howard to play the role of Walter Lee Younger, also known as "Brother". The last movie I can remember watching with Terrance was "Hustle and Flow". In this movie he was very emotionally hopeful and determined to become a famous rapper. His passopn in the movie reminds me of the passion that Walter had in the story. Terrance seems to be a man that "gambles big to win big".
RUTH YOUNGER
Jada Pickett Smith is the character I chose to play Ruth Younger. She is a beautiful and strong woman. Jada seems to take pride in taking care of her family. She seems to be a supportive wife for her famous husband/actor Wil Smith and mother to their son Jaden Smith. She seems to be very motivated by her family just as Ruth was in the story.
